A New Year and a new DC

6 January 2017

2017 Starts with an Appointment of new District Commissioner

The search for a new District Commissioner for South Tyneside Scout District is now complete and I would like to thank all members of the Search Team who have helped with this process.
After shortlisting nominations, candidate interviews and a meeting with the County Appointments Advisory Committee and myself I am delighted to announce that Shelagh Robson will be the next District Commissioner for South Tyneside Scout District.

Shelagh has been an adult member of the District for more than twenty years and will already be known to many of you. She is also a great supporter of County events and has good links with the County. She has already shown a good knowledge of what is required in the District and we will ensure that there is good continuity over the coming months. However, I also know that Shelagh has some new ideas and that she will receive the support neccessary to move the District forward to the next stage of growth and development.

I very much look forward to working with Shelagh over the coming years and am sure that you will all join me in congratulating Shelagh on her apppointment and in committing to support her as the District moves forward.

The appointment will be effective from 1st January 2017 and I look forward to formally completing the appointment with a Promise renewal at a District meeting early in the New Year.

In making this announcement I would also like to offer my sincere thanks to Elaine Wake for all her hard work in managing the District

Our Outgoing DC Elaine had some final words and wishes,

Dear Scouters,

I would like to wish you and your Family and the Scouts that you work with all the very best in health and friendship in 2017. I also thank you for the support given to me in my role as DC for the last 13 years.  I am sure you will join me in giving our new District Commissioner Shelagh Robson support and friendship so that Scouting in South Tyneside can continue to develop and grow.

Once again all the very best for 2017.

Yours in Scouting

As a District we wish both Elaine and Shelagh  all the best as they continue to volunteer in the Scouting movement in South Tyneside.
