Get Involved

There are many ways you can kick-start your adventure as a young person, parent or adult volunteer. Scouting offers fun, adventure and skills for life.

Young People

Ready to begin your adventure? There are five sections you can join, depending on your age. The activities and opportunities vary but what is the same is that each will empower you to make friends, learn skills and try new things.

Age 6-8? Fun and friends with Beavers! Find your local Beaver colony.

Age 8-10½? Think about joining Cubs! Check out the list of Cub packs.

Age 10½-14? Be Prepared at Scouts! Find your nearest Scout troop.

Age 14-18? Learn some life skills with Explorers!

Age 18-25? Have some adventures with your mates in Network!

Volunteers

‘Scouting is a character factory.’ Not our words, but those of our lead volunteer, chief scout Bear Grylls. Are you ready to inspire a generation of young people to experience fun, friendship and real adventure? The opportunities to volunteer with us are flexible. Think of something you’d like to do and chances are it’s just what we require. Our volunteers get involved on their terms and not all roles involve working with young people – there are plenty of admin roles behind the scenes. If you can give a little time (or a lot) to help improve young lives in your community, we’d love to hear from you.

Parents

Do you want your child to experience the fun, friendship and adventure of Scouting? You’re not alone. As well as the chance to take part in a range of exciting activities, scouts learn skills for life. A recent study showed that 87% of young people said that Scouting helped them to contribute to their communities as active citizens.
